Our Board of Directors is a passionate, dedicated group of volunteers who work behind the
scenes to ensure the success of Broad Run Crew. Their leadership helps keep our team
organized, equipped, and ready to row!
The board manages the day-to-day functions of the team such as purchasing and maintaining equipment, coordinating team events and outreach, organizing volunteer activities, taking care of the financial and tax requirements for the team, and hiring and retaining coaching staff, etc. It’sa BIG job but we work together to get it DONE!
The board meets once a month all year long. Each member holds at least a one-year term or until their successor is elected or assigned, and elections are held at the end of the crew season. Board members do not need to be affiliated in any way with a team member; however, usually, the members are parents of the current team.
We also have three annual volunteer positions that are crucial to our success – the VASRA
Representative, Website Master and Fundraising Chair.
We encourage Shadow Roles (to work alongside a current board member and learn their role) for all positions to ensure a smooth and easy transition when board members’ terms end.
